In 1994, figure skater Oksana Baiul used her delicate portrayal of the dying swan to earn the gold medal at the 1994 Olympic Games. Originally one of the movements in a suite for chamber ensemble, The Carnival of the Animals, "The Swan" enjoys widespread popularity as the graceful centerpiece in orchestral performance of the Carnival of the Animals. The larger work has introduced many a child to the wonder of classical music. The gentle, flowing music is a perfect match for the classical guitar, with its pure tonal qualities and its expressive range. In order to give the melodic line a more extended arch, this arrangement is performed using a 4-note tremolo technique, commonly seen in flamenco guitar playing, rather than the standard 3-note tremolo. Mar 26, 2012 - 4-note tremolo ! That must be unbelievably difficult ! Fantastic arrangement and marvellous performance. Shame I can only read tab, which I guess would exclude me from enrolling for the online stuff. Thanks for posting. Jim
